ETNA Software becomes a member of FIX Protocol Limited

Saint-Petersburg,Russia - 13 November, 2008: ETNA Software, a leading electronic trading software development company, has become a member of FIX Protocol Limited (www.fixprotocol.org). ETNA Software is an active member of FPL-FpML Collaboration, Web Services and Algorithmic Trading working groups, as well as GTC FIX 5.0 Usage and EMEA committees.

Since 2004 ETNA Software has been actively developing custom software solutions based on Financial Information eXchange (FIX) protocol for sell-side and buy-side organizations in the US. As a result of these efforts, the financial software developer acquired the knowledge that could be contributed to make FIX better.

Thus the company decided to join FIX Protocol Limited (FPL) - the organization that connects buy-side, sell-side, vendor and exchange communities with the goal to improve FIX protocol.

"The decision to become an FPL member has become obvious at some point as we saw an opportunity to contribute our "field" knowledge of how financial organizations should better work with both FIX specs, FIX integration and FIX routing components" - comments ETNA Software CEO, Roman Zhukov.

"FIX protocol has already become a de-facto standard in the US and is quickly gaining ground in EU. For example, we see FIX connectivity as a very cost effective solution for European prime brokers that want to grab liquidity from multiple trading venues" - adds ETNA Software VP marketing, Alexey Linkov.

About FIX Protocol

FIX is the industry-driven messaging standard that is changing the face of the global financial services sector, as firms use the protocol to transact in an electronic, transparent, cost efficient and timely manner. FIX is open and free, but it is not software. Rather, FIX is a specification around which software developers can create commercial or open-source software, as they see fit.

Simple, stress-free way to develop successful outsourcing relationships

St. Petersburg, Russia. September 22, 2007 - ETNA Software, .net and java solutions provider, revealed insights on why many offshore outsourcing initiatives fail even before they take off. Among top issues are the lack of trust between parties, ad hoc outsourcing management and client's sole focus on price.

Particularly,ETNA Software revealed that establishing the culture of transparency and trust on both sides is vital for outsourcing success. Roman Zhukov,CEO & President of ETNA Software: "Actually, the most successful projects we have accomplished had less control and more productive cooperation. On the contrary, the failed projects had the following symptoms of mutual distrust, strain and resulting collapse:

  • Decision rights between the parties are not clear / consistent
  • Customer’s business units lack a clear understanding of what we are able to deliver
  • Both parties are unable to anticipate each other's behavior. Low level of predictability
  • One simple way to mitigate offshore outsourcing risks and lay foundation for trust is to invest in pilot projects. Pilot projects are the stress-free way to get to know each other and have time to develop future longer-term outsourcing relationships.

"What could give you more information about a offshore vendor's processes, and more reasons to trust them, than low-risk short-term initiatives with potentially attractive service providers?" comments Alexey Linkov,VP Marketing at ETNA Software.

It is said that offshore outsourcing, particularly handing off the development of software solutions to third party offshore, has now become a commodity.

Surprisingly enough,48% of ITO/BPO buyers feel they lack experience to go offshore and another 37% confess they lack skills to manage outsourcing, according to the recent PriceWaterHouseCoopers survey .
